Chocolate sauce

Who doesn't love a nice chocolate sauce on desserts. It's a perfect decoration or finishing touch to cakes and desserts. For example you can use is as a topping on your ice cream or panna cotta. 

Ingredients

  • 250g of fine sugar 

  • 250ml water

  • 100g cocoa powder

  • 1/2 of a vanilla bean stick -

  • or in case 1/2 tsp on vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt

Preparation

  1. In a small saucepan mix in the sugar, water, vanilla and pin of salt bringing it to boil

  2. cook while stirring for 10 minutes so that the sauce starts reducing

  3. stir in the cocoa powder and keep cooking at boiling point for another 4 minutes so the sauce will further be reduced 

  4. let it cool before using it
